In Matthew 5:17 Jesus says "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill."
In Ephesians 2:14-15, Paul writes "For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,...
Is there a contradiction here? If not, why not?
There is no contradiction. In the Mt. passage its clear that He fulfilled the law which consisted of loveing God with all your heart, soul, and mind and loveling others as yourself. All of the comandments are summed up in these. In the eph. passage what seems to be abolished is the hatred between jew and gentile, making us one in the body of christ.
